Strength vs. hockey recovery

Strength and power work builds the engine, but legs only adapt when they recover. In-season, ice comes first: two short, quality gym sessions a week is plenty. Games override the gym — a hard workout never goes the day before a game. If he's sore, tired or the shoulder feels off, swap mornings to Mobility or Rest; that's a smart choice, not a missed day. In the first contact week, ramp up cautiously: no max lifts, nothing to failure.
